"Perhaps the finest feature of the Denali Wilderness Lodge is the opportunity to strike out on our own. We can hike and climb for miles and always keep the lodge's roofs in sight. Freedom with assurance..."

Equestrian Policy:
Many accomplished riders worry about coming to a place like the Denali Wilderness Lodge and riding “nose to tail” behind a wrangler.  Our wranglers have many years of experience and trips will be structured to fit the riders within that group.

We are not in a huge plain where there are miles to gallop – the lodge sits ringed by high mountains in all directions in a river valley.  That said – we are in the middle of 1.2 million acres of wilderness area and depending on your length of stay and your desires, you can push back into some incredible areas on our day rides.

However, please remember that in these days of rising litigation it is very hard for us to get insurance to cover this type of operation in the wilderness.  To secure the coverage we need, certain actions are just not possible and taking horses out alone without a wrangler is not permitted. During booking we are happy to work with you or your family in giving you the greatest opportunity to have the kind of experience you want while here at the lodge.

So rest assured in this beautiful place – no matter what your riding experience – you’ll be talking about this trip for a lifetime.
