What's New This Month?
WOW... IT’S BEEN 3 YEARS SINCE WE OPENED OUR DOORS AT GIRAFFE

We have been truly blessed by so many of you who shopped with us and in turn completed the circle of fair trade. To date we have meaningful products from over 66 countries and as our sphere expands we are able to bless more talented artisans in developing countries.

This last month I was invited to attend a Textile Exhibit in Mali as part of an Aid to Artisan project. So off I went to Bamako, Mali and for a week met with artist groups from Benin, Burkina Faso, Senegal, Chad and Mali. I made selections that will be in the store mid November.

These beautiful Tie Dyed scarves and wall textiles, are fresh color combinations. Madam Ramatoulaye Sissoko shows me the wares from the women’s co-op she represents.

Mme Korotimi Traore is the director of Sinignesigui a group that hires widows in the community that would otherwise be destitute. Their cotton scarves and pillows are amazing both in design and quality. All natural dyes are used, and the workshop is in Segou.

LAO SILVER
Bring beauty into your life while helping a culture retain its traditions
Orijyn brings you unique jewelry from the same master craftsmen who produced jewelry for the Royal family. This is the first time these pieces are available in the West

The main motif used in these pieces was initially reserved for the Royal Court and is a stylized representation of the Dok Phikoun flower, indigenous to the region. Local monks have for centuries taught of the Dok Phikoun’s powers of good fortune and promotion of a long and happy life.

These high quality pieces are true perfection, earrings and bracelets are now in the store.

October is FAIR TRADE MONTH and it is so exciting that we are helping create a better life for over 10,000 people in developing countries, through Giraffe.

Fair Trade is about empowerment. It empowers farmers and farm workers to lift themselves out of poverty with a more just system of trade. But it also empowers you. It empowers you to make change in the world simply by choosing to consume products that were produced and traded ethically and responsibly, when you buy coffee, chocolate, soap and so many things that enrich your life.

Giraffe has a new sign crafted by Island artist David Erue.
A huge thank you to everyone that has supported us these last 3 years...

Many Tall Giraffe Blessings
