Mr. Foster has over 27 years of experience in the ERISA retirement plan and investment advisory fields. Mr. Foster holds a designation as Accredited Investment Fiduciary Auditor from the Center for Fiduciary Studies affiliated with the Katz Graduate School of Business at the University of Pittsburgh.
Mr. Foster is a graduate of Phillips Exeter Academy, including additional specialized studies at the Instituto de Estudios Nórteamericanos in Barcelona, Spain.
He is a 1977 graduate of the University Of Colorado School Of Business with a degree in Marketing. After graduation, he joined Great-West Life Assurance Company, a leading, diversified financial services firm based in Denver, Colorado. While rising to the position of Senior Account Executive in the Group and Pension Division, he became recognized for his expertise in market development.
He has addressed national conferences of the Profit Sharing Council of America and Institute for International Research on issues of retirement plan administration database technology and spoken at several regional chapters of Financial Executives International (FEI).
In the mid 1990’s Mr. Foster was among the first in the retirement industry to author employee communications programs based on principles of behavioral finance.
While working for Manulife Financial in 1992, he authored for Manulife the first fiduciary guidebook for plan sponsors, "Critical Fiduciary Issues and Insights in 401(k) Plans" which was distributed by Manulife on a national basis. As a Principal of Independent Retirement Plan Services LLC he is the co-author of both the FACS Program, an ERISA fiduciary governance guidebook and the online ERISA fiduciary governance training based on FACS distributed by FEI.
